A SOUND MIND

(Based on II Timothy 1:7)

A sound mind
Given by God and Jesus
Travels at “warp” speed
To memories dear,
Or our latest misdeed.
But, not to worry
If we ARE Christ’s child:
(Both bad and some mild).

This sound mind
Is God’s gift:
Healing that rift
Caused by mankind’s fall
When Adam lost all.

GOD LOVES GOOD HUSBANDS

God loves good husbands
So, keep on living -
Because you ARE
Terribly missed
When you’re gone -
So, stay and be kissed.
Realize you’re loved
For who you are -
A shining star
In God’s Creation.

I AM NOT

I am not
“Going quietly
Into the night” -
But like an old
Mother hen -
Kicking up a
Lot of barnyard dust
And clucking loudly
To her chicks:
“Following Jesus
Is a must.”
Sounding the alarm
To keep them from harm!

(Yes, I do love
Those glorious chickens.)
Cluck! Cluck!

BEING BORN AGAIN

Being born again
Is life’s greatest goal -
It makes you whole -
(From lost to found!) -
Like that proverbial
Lost sheep
That Jesus found,
And did keep!

A I D S

AIDS, that dread
Word and state -
Driven by rebel sex,
And full of hate
For God and Jesus’ WORDS
And Their good sex rules.

AIDS, the devil’s sex -
Killing all the fools.

THE POWER OF BELIEVING

The power of
Believing
The Holy Spirit,
Manifests
The Power of God!

DAVID, DON’T LIVE IN THE HOUSE OF PHILOSOPHY FOREVER

David, don’t live in
The house of philosophy forever,
But in Jesus’ House
(The One “not
Built with hands”).

It’s Jesus’ House
That breaks
Earth’s bands.

Philosophy’s house
Goes only so far -
But HIS is the House
That reaches the stars -
Especially that MORNING STAR.

DAVID, MY DAVID, GODSPEED TO YOU!

You’re a tall
Handsome fellow -
Smart, sweet and mellow -
Bright and quick
As light -
Mysterious as night.
Farewell,
And Godspeed to you!

YOU CHOOSE SCHIZOPHRENIA (I pray not)

You choose schizophrenia, while
I’ll choose Christianity.
You choose to live
In this secular world,
Where there is good and evil -
I choose to live
Apart from evil -
With God and Jesus’ help -
For evil is strong
And can
Make the strongest yelp.

So, I choose Jesus
“Narrow Way”
‘Til the end
Of my day,
When He brings
Me Home to Heaven!

Choose His Way
With me
And leave
Evil’s confused, schizophrenic path -
(Both here and there)
To the “lost”!

GOD BURNED OUT THE DROSS

God burned out the dross
From my soul
And it was NOT
A big loss -
It just gave me
A lot of pain -
But, was all for my gain,
Losing that junky, old “dross”.

Miraculously,
Losing that “load”
Made my soul soar -
I was readier
For Heaven
Amid earth’s fierce roar.

I’M A DADDY’S GIRL !

I’m a daddy’s girl!
That’s how
It ought to be!

A Godly father
Has a future goddess
On his knee.
Both are delighted!!
Never frighted -
(At least if he is,)
He keeps it to himself -
Keeping her
And her mother safe,
Is his main aim
In life!
God made him so!
And now you know
Why I’m a
Daddy’s girl for life!

I’m a “Daddy’s girl”
And look -
“How I turned out”:
Blessed - two other
Godly men -
Without a doubt.

THE LIFE OF THE MIND

We live in our minds -
That, we eventually find!

Self must abandon
Its throne,
If we are
To be known,
As only God can know us.

Pure love and care
Can be ours,
Thru all life’s hours -
If we follow Jesus’ Way
‘Til the end
Of our days.

GOD SPECIALIZES IN TOUGH LOVE

God specializes in tough love,
Sad to say -
It’s because of the Fall,
We need it that way!

God’s Fatherly Love
Shapes His Christian children
From above -
Making them ready
For heaven -
That’s His “Tough Love”!

Trust and Faith
Are required -
So never get tired
Of His “Tough Love”.

Just lean on His Arm,
And you will come
To no harm!

JUST BEING NICE

Just being nice
Now rules the day -
“Just being nice”
Now holds sway
Over Christianity’s Christ,
Who shows us “HIS WAY”.

Many now say:
“I hope I’ll be nice enough”
To reach Heaven’s gate.

Mindless, spineless, nicety
Now rules so many folks.
Who have rejected God’s “narrow way” -
And become satan’s easy prey -
Thinking just “being nice” is enough.

LAUGHING TALK

Nowadays our talk
Has gotten “soooo” p.c.,
Real understanding
Is not
Real “e-a-s-y”!

So “laughing talk”
Rules the day -
Words are couched
In a nonsensical laugh -
“Taking a stab”
At clarity.
Say nothing unless
It elicits a “chuckle” -
(Even if it is of a dubious sort)!
That’s how
We now talk and report.

O - woe is me!

THE LAND OF ANOMIE

The land of Anomie,
Where “nothing” rules -
And there ARE
No schools -
Just plenty of places
For fools!

In the land of Anomie,
There is
No right or wrong!
And if nothing matters -
Then that’s right
Where we belong.

HOWEVER, we cannot live a Good life,
Without any meaning -
Without God and Jesus’ Blessed rules!!
So, don’t remain darn fools,
And live in that sad
Land of Anomie
Where there ARE
No rules.

DEAR GOD, THY WORLD IS BEAUTIFUL!

Dear God, Thy World is beautiful!
Oh, how it thrills my soul to see
The beauty of a sunset sky
Or stately tree.
The form of an autumn leaf
Upon the lawn,
Touches my heart
As it’s touched at dawn -
When rosy ribbons wrap the sky
And one knows hope is never gone!

Thank you for the beauty
Of a small pink rose -
The way a wisteria blossom grows -
Cottonwood leaves that shine and dance
When over the river a brisk
Breeze blows.

Thou art at the heart
Of the tiny rose -
Mirrored in mountain lake -
Present in the winds
That shake each lovely leaf
And so from nature’s sheaf
We sense Thy plan:
Fused with the Words
Of the Son of Man.
We begin to see our destiny -
Linked together in Thy golden chain
With beauty and good on every plane -
We are at one with Thee!

HOUSE OF PEACE

905, a place of peace
For God made it so.

So everyone
Will know
Where to go.

Here, Jesus leads -
And somehow
We will know
The right way to go.

Just keep
On praying.
His Way
He will show!

COLD OLD LADY

Not fun to be old
But to be
Old and cold,
So really sad -
Not the least bit “rad”.
Make you feel “shrively” -
All shriveled up -
Like an used paper cup!

Old pains reappear -
Along with fear -
Only Jesus’ Way -
Can save the day - or night!
He helps you thru -
“Jesus is Victor” -
Corrie said it true!

LOOKING FOR LOVE

Looking for loveIn all the wrong places!
That’s the story
Of life
Lived
Without Jesus.

JESUS IS THE GOD OF THE SECOND CHANCE

Jesus is the God of the second chance
Only God and He
Can heal the wounds
Of your soul,
And make you whole.

Jesus shows His love
For you on the cross,
Giving His Life
To heal your loss!
Loss from childhood’s wounds
That everyone has -
Needing Jesus’ healing salve.
Wounds where pain is deep,
Driving us along
To behavior that’s wrong -
And makes things even worse.

So take Jesus’ offer
Of a second chance!
Know His love for you
Is found in His acceptance -
Wounds of deep rejection -
Healed by Jesus’ deep affection!

Then you’ve found
The God of the second chance!

EQUITY

“Don’t piss off your equity.”
Is good advice,
Don’t you see?

God gave you talents, aplenty
Don’t you see? -

Use them for self and others,
That’s maximum use of your equity!

- Jo Jean DeCristoforo -

FOCUS

Focus on the goal
As all great athletes do!

Our goal for life
Is what is true!
Make Jesus’ way
The goal for your soul,
Since His Way is True.

Focus on Jesus’ Truth
To see life through.
He is the prized goal,
Worthy of your soul!

So focus on Him,
To find His joy within.

- Jo Jean DeCristoforo -

GOOD OLD COMMON HORSE SENSE

“He has got
Good old-fashioned common horse sense!”
My Dad would say,
In an admiring sort of way.

It was as if -
If that was all he had -
It was good enough -
Sort of like having
All the right stuff!

- Jo Jean DeCristoforo -

LIVING AND DYING

We are not ready to live
‘Til we are ready to die!
And dying does terrify -
‘Til we live Jesus’ way!

No other way to win
But ask Jesus within,
And live for and with Him
Day by day!

The joy of the Lord
Will be your strength -
As you live any length -
Then, you will be ready to die!

Heavenward bound,
You owe Jesus all -
As he conquered the Fall,
And “brought you around”.

Hallelujah to the Lamb -
He taught you to live and to die!

LIFE WITHOUT GOD

Life without God
Simply does not work -
There is no real love, no hope,
No kindness, happiness, joys
For men, women, girls, and boys!

Just a dreary, gloomy life
Filled with mindless strife.

Atheism can be sad
With nothing much to make you glad,
But movies and games to entertain.

Live life with God and Jesus
They bring meaning to your work
And a purpose to living and giving!

TV IS NOT LIKE REAL LIFE

TV is not like real life,
It plays right into the devil’s hand -
Carried along by its seductive stand -
“Away, away” to “la-la” land!

Ensnaring all in daffy unreality -
Lies of human perfection as really true,
Bringing sour delusion along
Decked out with a silly song.

Then there are self-promoting ads
Like poisonous honey, -
Pushing only one interest: money!
Teaching the dumb and smart alike,
False answers and fake pronouncements.

Mind games dressed as real life,
Leading all into the “pit”
The devil has busily dug
For those who believe in TV,
Not God and Christ -
And their plan for life.

So godless TV does lead us astray
From real life and Jesus’ way.

- Jo Jean DeCristoforo -

DUTY AND HAPPINESS

Happiness comes along
With a song,
As we are doing our duty.

But when we do wrong,
We lose our song,
And happiness fades,
As does beauty!

So forget not
Jesus, God, and your duty.

- Jo Jean DeCristoforo -

MOVIE MASQUERADE

Movies masquerade as real life,
Telling us many lies
About how life really works!
But movies are made by godless jerks,
Showcasing man-made theories
That only add to life’s worries.

Movies seem to say:
Live life our way -
That God’s old, dull rules
Are only for fools.

But they are the fools -
Ignoring God’s rules.

Trading a “made-up” story
For all of God’s glory!
That’s the movie masquerade!

A BEAUTIFUL GODLY WOMAN

A beautiful Godly woman
Is God’s best gift to man
Created according to plan
Special, from the very first
Not like man -
(The crowning glory of the universe)
But his total, equal compliment!

Man finds his completeness
Only in the love of a woman as wife.

Remember, God said
After creating man:
It’s not good for man to be alone!
He must have a beautiful woman.

God loves women!!

Man is the head -
Woman the heart of God’s world.

SEX

It seems a duty
To observe men’s (or women’s) beauty,
Even deep in sleep -
A promise to keep.

Part of God’s mystery
Is the beauty of sex -
A blessing of God
Never understood -
Just blessing and good.

Sex only works
Under God’s control,
Or meaning and beauty are lost
Somewhere, in a black hole.

God gives us part
Of His CREATIVITY
Cemented by
Jesus’ NATIVITY.

So follow His sex rules
Or become super fools.

FEAR

I’m not nearly as brave
As I thought I’d be.

Sometimes fear rises inside of me,
That awful feeling
That I try to hide.
This tide melts courage away -
Feels like it’s there to stay.
And only Jesus is near
To quell my fear.

Jesus is my only friend!
Down to the end
With me He will stay
And take that awful fear away!

THINK ABOUT ASPIRIN

Think about aspirin
Miracle drug of the day!
It seemed to make me stronger -
And to last even longer,
And chased arthritis away!

This drug, God given,
Eased soldiers in livin’
Through W.W. 1
‘Til it was done.

My dad was one
Of those soldiers!
Thank God for aspirin!

I SHOULD GIVE LESSONS ON HOW TO DIE AT HOME

I should give lessons
On how to die at home.
So I’ll try to do
It in a poem.

My qualifications are rare
So let me now share:
I’m an 84 yr. old 3rd generation RN,
Like an old mother hen -
Clucking to her chix -
On what needs to be fixed,
If you want to die at home.

First of all pray a lot
To find honest Christian help,
When helpless you get.
Someone who will care -
And not use or abuse,
And your burdens to share.
Then trust Jesus and God all the way
Day by day.

GODLESS EVOLUTIONARY SCIENTISTS

Godless evolutionary scientists
Do have their place,
Doing good work
For the human race.

But their favorite agenda
Seems to be:
Proving God is a fantasy!

This does lots of harm
Tearing innocent Believers apart.
That’s NOT their main work,
And they should just “shut up” -quietly doing their good work
For Mankind!

FIGHT EVIL WITH GOOD

Fight evil with good
‘Cause it’s “what’s under the hood”
That brings forth good!

That good is God’s LOVE,
For suffering mankind -
Wrapped up in Jesus’ Way
(It’s His Way - or the highway!)
He is the Savior of the world!

Then think about
This fact:
Jesus said,
“Love your enemies”!
Try it in a balanced way.
